If North Carolina residents are interested in competing at the N.C. State Fair, they have until Monday, Sept. 15 to register for various competitions. The fair offers a range of categories including arts and photography, culinary, livestock, decorating, fruit and vegetable production, hobbies and handicrafts, flowers, and LEGOS.
Kent Yelverton, director of the N.C. State Fair, said: “Our competitions highlight the talents of the people of North Carolina. For most of the competitions, entry drop off is the weekend before the Fair starts on Oct. 16. If you are planning to enter something into one of the hundreds of categories of competitions we have at the Fair, this is the last weekend to do it before entries close at midnight on Monday, Sept. 15.”
There are also 11 cooking challenges open only to home chefs who live in North Carolina. These events will take place daily during the fair in Dorton Arena’s North Side Lobby. Winners will receive $500 for first place, $300 for second place and $200 for third place.
