Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany has launched a new high-performance computer (HPC) built on Lenovo ThinkSystem servers and using advanced liquid cooling technology. The system is hosted in an AI-ready data center operated by Equinix in Germany. The HPC aims to support innovation across Merck’s three business sectors: Life Science, Healthcare, and Electronics.

The system was developed by Lenovo with support from Equinix. It uses a hybrid cloud design that combines private and public cloud infrastructure to provide flexible scaling for different computational needs. The company expects the new computing resources to help improve product development in life sciences, streamline drug discovery in healthcare, and enhance materials development for the semiconductor industry.
