Lowe’s has introduced a new AI tool called Mylow Companion, aimed at enhancing customer service and expediting the onboarding process for associates. The tool is designed specifically for use on associate sales floor devices, providing quick access to essential information such as product details, project advice, and inventory status. This initiative marks the first successful deployment of such technology at scale in the retail sector, reaching all associates across Lowe’s over 1,700 stores.

Seemantini Godbole, Lowe’s Chief Digital and Information Officer, emphasized the company’s commitment to improving both customer and associate experiences with this launch. “Mylow Companion is another example of Lowe’s living out its commitment to elevate the customer and associate experience,” she stated. “Whether associates have been on the job for five weeks or five years, they can be confident they’re delivering expert-level advice and assistance, and customers can trust they’re getting the best service and experience of any retailer.”

The introduction of Mylow Companion follows closely behind the launch of Mylow, an AI-powered virtual advisor for customers. Both tools were developed in collaboration with OpenAI and are built on a shared foundation that leverages Lowe’s expertise to provide quick and useful information. Brad Lightcap, Chief Operating Officer at OpenAI, commented on their collaboration: “Through our collaboration with Lowe’s, AI is making it faster and easier for their associates to help customers find exactly what they need for their most important projects.”

Lowe’s plans to continue evolving both Mylow Companion and Mylow by introducing new features based on user feedback.
