Lenovo has published its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report for the fiscal year 2024/25. The report highlights the company’s progress toward its emissions reduction targets for 2030 and reiterates its goal to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This aligns with the Science Based Targets initiative. Lenovo reports that it is on track with many of its key objectives as it approaches the completion of its first generation of ESG key performance indicators.
The report details Lenovo’s environmental initiatives, such as participating in the circular economy through using closed-loop recycled materials in products. It also emphasizes sustainability services that aid customers in repairing, recycling, and reusing products to extend their lifecycles.
Lenovo’s efforts have been recognized with several accolades: Platinum Recognition from EcoVadis, an AAA rating from MSCI ESG Ratings, and a Gold Award from the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants for Best Corporate Governance and ESG. Furthermore, Lenovo was ranked #8 in Gartner’s Top 20 Global Supply Chains with an ESG Score of 9/10.
On social impact, Lenovo was named a Best Workplace for People with Disabilities by Disability:IN in the United States and expanded this recognition to the UK and Brazil. The company demonstrated community engagement through its Love on Month of Service event, achieving a 44% increase in volunteer participation globally.
Dave Carroll, Senior Vice President at Lenovo and Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Responsibility Officer since March 2025, commented on this milestone: “This year marks a significant milestone for Lenovo’s ESG journey… we’re proud of the progress we’ve made and are focused on building the foundation for our next chapter of ESG leadership.”
In governance matters, Lenovo reinforced its Smarter AI for All vision with an updated internal policy framework. In 2024, it introduced an AI governance policy aligned with commitments to various international bodies including UNESCO and the European Commission. Doug Fisher was appointed Chief AI Officer alongside his role as Chief Security Officer to promote responsible innovation within Lenovo.
