Lenovo Group Limited has appointed Amit Midha as a non-executive director to its board. Midha is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Alat, a company owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. He will join twelve other directors on Lenovo’s board.

Yuanqing Yang, Lenovo Chairman and CEO, commented on the appointment: “On behalf of the board and management of Lenovo, I warmly welcome Amit Midha to the Group’s Board. His deep global experience and leadership role for Alat, focused on advancing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s industrial development and digital transformation, will be instrumental as we deepen our global partnerships and expand our innovation footprint in the region. His insights will help strengthen our efforts in the Kingdom, aligning with our vision to deliver smarter technology for all, everywhere.”

Lenovo has formed a strategic partnership with Alat as part of its manufacturing expansion plans. In January 2025, Lenovo completed a US$2 billion investment through three-year zero-coupon convertible bonds. The two companies are working together to establish a manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia that is expected to produce millions of devices annually once operations begin in 2026. This project aims to create job opportunities across the Middle East and Africa region and supports efforts to position the area as an innovation hub. Lenovo is also setting up a regional headquarters in Riyadh.

Amit Midha became CEO of Alat in February 2023. At Alat, he leads initiatives aimed at transforming industries within electronics and advanced manufacturing sectors in Saudi Arabia. Before joining Alat, Midha held several senior roles at Dell, including President of Asia Pacific and Japan and Executive Vice President of Global Digital Cities, overseeing business activities across more than 40 countries and focusing on public-sector digital city projects globally. He was recognized by Bloomberg as CEO of the year in Information Technology in 2010. Since November 2024, he has served as a non-executive director for GNG Electronics Ltd., listed on India’s National Stock Exchange.
