KRUK S.A., a Polish debt management company operating in several European countries, has modernized its IT infrastructure using Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud technologies. The modernization project, called ‘New Horizon,’ aimed to address the challenges of maintaining an aging monolithic core system and diverse IT environments across multiple countries.
The company adopted Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, and Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security for Kubernetes to create a unified and scalable platform. This new platform allows KRUK’s 20 development teams to deploy services consistently in Poland, Romania, Spain, and Italy. As a result of these changes, batch processing times were reduced from six hours to two hours, document pre-processing times decreased from over ten seconds to under six seconds per page, and IT maintenance tasks that previously took days now take only hours.
Lubomir Stojek, country manager Poland at Red Hat, stated: “Financial institutions face mounting pressure to modernize their systems while meeting strict security and regulatory standards. KRUK’s modernization journey shows how open source technologies can help organizations standardize operations across markets and innovate at scale. By building on Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud platform, KRUK has laid a strong foundation for continuous innovation, faster service delivery, and greater resilience in a highly dynamic environment.”
Adam Łodygowski, Chief Data & Technology Officer Area at KRUK S.A., said: “The modernization of our core system marks an important milestone for KRUK’s technology transformation. With Red Hat’s open ecosystem, we’ve built a scalable platform that unifies our development across four European markets and gives our teams the autonomy to innovate faster. The new platform enhances security, accelerates delivery, and enables us to respond faster to the needs of our customers and the evolving regulatory landscape.”
The partnership with ESKOM supported the design and implementation of this multi-cluster architecture with centralized management and advanced security controls. These improvements have helped strengthen compliance efforts by centralizing policy management.
KRUK is also preparing for future growth by developing its hybrid platform further—combining on-premises reliability with public cloud flexibility—and investing in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) capabilities for more data-driven digital services.
