Aker BP, a major oil and gas company operating on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, will implement Honeywell’s Forge Asset Performance Management (APM) solution across five North Sea assets. The agreement aims to support Aker BP’s strategy for condition-based monitoring and predictive maintenance in its operations.
According to Honeywell, the Forge APM platform is designed to integrate with various automation systems and equipment from different manufacturers. It uses artificial intelligence analytics for early detection of faults, offers prescriptive maintenance guidance, and helps prioritize risk-based maintenance tasks. This approach seeks to minimize unplanned downtime and enhance asset performance.
“With Honeywell Forge APM, Aker BP gains an enterprise-wide, predictive maintenance strategy that leverages the power of AI to enhance asset reliability, improve safety and drive operational efficiency,” said Edwin van den Maagdenberg, President for Europe, Industrial Automation at Honeywell. “Unlike many of today’s traditional localized APM solutions, we offer a modular, adaptable platform that can be deployed either on-premises or via the cloud depending on the unique needs of a company’s operations.”
The system collects real-time data from different types of equipment into one dashboard. Its flexible architecture allows for both on-premises and cloud deployment options as well as future expansion across more assets. The intention is to deliver actionable insights that could increase reliability and efficiency while improving safety standards.
As part of their collaboration, Honeywell and Aker BP plan to establish an Innovation & Technology Forum. This group will include leaders and technical experts from both companies working together to advance asset performance initiatives and further digitalization goals in Aker BP’s North Sea activities.
