Honeywell has announced the launch of a new AI-powered retail solution, developed in partnership with Google Cloud and 66degrees. The Smart Shopping Platform uses Google’s Gemini and Vertex AI technology to enhance in-store shopping for retailers worldwide.

According to Honeywell, the platform helps shoppers find products, compare items, and receive suggestions for alternatives when items are out of stock. “There is nothing more frustrating than roaming through a store unable to find the last item on your grocery list or forgetting the key part needed to complete a home repair,” said David Barker, president, Honeywell Productivity Solutions and Services. “The Smart Shopping Platform addresses these pain points, creating a better experience for shoppers. Retailers also benefit from an ’out of the box’ AI solution they can implement without having to maintain a team of AI experts.”

The cloud-based system connects digital data with physical store environments using Honeywell’s Mobility Edge hardware and software along with Google Cloud’s AI capabilities. It provides real-time product information and personalized recommendations that resemble online shopping experiences.

Jose Gomes, vice president for Retail and Consumer Packaged Goods at Google Cloud, said: “The Smart Shopping Platform uses Google Cloud’s AI to turn Honeywell devices into intelligent companions for both shoppers and staff. This collaboration integrates AI with specialized hardware to streamline operations inside the retail store and guide consumers through an efficient and delightful shopping journey. It’s a win-win that helps retailers increase basket size while building deeper customer loyalty.”

Shoppers using compatible Honeywell Android devices such as the CS32 Personal Shopper can connect their loyalty accounts to get tailored suggestions based on purchase history, preferences, related products, discounts, and promotions. The platform also offers navigation within stores to help customers locate products efficiently. If an item is unavailable, the system recommends similar options.

For retail workers, devices like the Honeywell CT70 allow them to provide immediate assistance by accessing product locations or information for customers. These devices are already used by thousands of employees in major grocery chains and other retail outlets.

The Smart Shopping Platform will be available starting February 2026. More information about Honeywell’s retail solutions can be found at https://automation.honeywell.com/us/en/solutions/productivity.
