Governor Josh Stein announced the end of the State of Emergency for Hurricane Erin in North Carolina. The hurricane stayed offshore during the weekend and did not make landfall in the state.

“Hurricane Erin has moved away from North Carolina and remained offshore throughout the weekend, so a State of Emergency is no longer necessary. I am grateful to our State Emergency Response Team for all the work to prepare for the storm, keep people safe, and reopen roadways. We will continue to support local needs as crews clean up and assess the full scope of damage Hurricane Erin caused,” Stein said.

The termination of the emergency order was formalized through Executive Order 22, which ends Executive Order 20. The governor noted that response teams are continuing their efforts to assist communities with cleanup and damage assessment following the storm.
