Governor Josh Stein has recognized ten individuals for their significant contributions to North Carolina by inducting them into the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. This prestigious award is given to those who have demonstrated a lifetime of service and dedication to the state.

“These North Carolinians represent the best our state has to offer through their lifetimes of service,” stated Governor Stein. “I am proud to honor them for their contributions and willingness to help their neighbors.”

The honorees include Alma Adams, a United States Representative, and Lynn Good, former Chief Executive Officer of Duke Energy. Spencer Merriweather, Mecklenburg County District Attorney, was also honored alongside Jeff Tarte, a former North Carolina State Senator and Mayor of Cornelius.

Bishop Dwayne Walker, who served as pastor at Little Rock African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, was recognized for his service. From the Charlotte Fire Department, retired firefighter Carl Bailey and current firefighters Jonathan Moore, William Costello, Captain Nathan Jones, and engineer Justin Barringer were acknowledged for their commitment.

These individuals were celebrated for their exceptional dedication and contributions to improving the lives of North Carolinians.
