Governor offers reward for information on Rowan County murder

Today, Governor Josh Stein announced a reward of up to $25,000 for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder of Michael James Mitchke.

The incident occurred on August 21, 2022, when officers responded to a call about a camper on fire at 3740 St. Peters Church Road in Salisbury. Inside the camper, they found Mr. Mitchke, who was 57 years old at the time, deceased. An autopsy revealed that he died from multiple gunshot wounds.
