Duke Energy Ohio & Kentucky, along with its employees, customers, and local partners, has provided more than $860,000 in energy assistance this year through the Share the Light Fund. The support aims to help families keep their homes warm and powered during the winter season.
The company works with organizations such as the Salvation Army, United Way of Greater Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission to deliver aid to those facing financial challenges. More than one-third of the funding came from the Duke Energy Foundation, which also contributed an additional $100,000 earlier in the year for relief during extreme heat.
Last year, Duke Energy and its Foundation contributed over $2.6 million to nonprofits within its Ohio and Kentucky service areas. Employees of Duke Energy Ohio & Kentucky also gave more than $650,000 through volunteer hours and donations.
Kim Vogelgesang, manager at Duke Energy Foundation, stated: “Behind every request for help is a story – a family, a friend, a community member working to get through a tough time. Through Share the Light Fund and our local partners, we’re able to support our neighbors in their moment of need.”
Customers seeking assistance can use the Payment Assistance Finder on Duke Energy’s website. Those wishing to contribute can make recurring or one-time donations to the Share the Light Fund.
