Duke Energy Foundation has announced a new funding initiative that will allocate $500,000 to local environmental impact programs in North Carolina. Nonprofit organizations eligible for this funding can apply for grants of up to $25,000. The application process is currently active and will close on June 30 at 5 p.m., with forms available on the Duke Energy Foundation’s website.

The Foundation’s funding is targeted at programs focused on enhancing natural environments, increasing community resilience, supporting land conservation, promoting clean water initiatives, and supporting biodiversity. “We are proud to support initiatives that enhance our natural surroundings and bolster community resilience,” remarked Kendal Bowman, Duke Energy’s North Carolina president. “Our goal is to contribute to the well-being of the communities we serve by partnering with organizations which recognize that North Carolina’s natural environment is one of our most important assets.”

In the last two years, Duke Energy Foundation has funded over 50 environmental initiatives across North Carolina. Examples include coastal restoration projects, rehabilitation of wildlife habitats, and local environmental science educational programs.

Duke Energy Foundation, backed by Duke Energy shareholders, provides over $30 million annually in philanthropic support for communities served by Duke Energy.
