The Duke Energy Foundation has announced the launch of its America250 grant program, inviting nonprofit organizations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Florida to apply for funding. The initiative is part of a more than $1 million investment to mark the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States.
The grants will range from $5,000 to $20,000 and are intended to support projects that empower veterans through workforce development programs, celebrate American history with local exhibits or educational programming, and enhance community spaces through cleanups or park revitalizations.
“America250 is more than a milestone – it’s an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s history, recognize the contributions of all Americans and support the next generation through community-led projects,” said Loree Elswick, president of the Duke Energy Foundation. “Our investment is focused on uplifting the places and people that shape our communities.”
Nonprofit organizations classified as 501(c)(3) serving areas where Duke Energy operates are eligible to apply. Governmental entities are not eligible for this funding. Each organization may submit only one application during the window from January 12 to February 20.
The Duke Energy Foundation provides over $30 million annually in philanthropic support for communities served by Duke Energy customers. The foundation is funded by shareholders of Duke Energy.
Duke Energy is one of the largest energy holding companies in the United States. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, it serves 8.6 million electric customers across six states and operates natural gas utilities for 1.7 million customers in five states.
