Duke Energy Florida has announced immediate savings for income-qualified customers through its Clean Energy Connection program. Customers who participate in Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicaid, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-EBT), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) or the Duke Energy Neighborhood Energy Saver may be eligible for this offer.

The Clean Energy Connection program allows customers to pay a monthly subscription fee to help maintain solar sites operated by Duke Energy Florida. In return, subscribers receive credits on their energy bills. For those who qualify based on income, the monthly fee is $8.35 per kilowatt-hour and the credit is $9.03 per kilowatt-hour, both fixed amounts. This means that participants save money from their first month of enrollment, as the credit exceeds the cost of the subscription.

Duke Energy Florida operates 10 Clean Energy Connection solar sites across the state, generating a combined 749 megawatts of carbon-free electricity at peak output. This is enough to power about 230,000 homes.

Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president, said: “Through Duke Energy Florida’s Clean Energy Connection program, income-qualified customers can receive guaranteed savings, while also supporting solar energy – without any of the traditional equipment or costs. There’s no risk, and the reward is instant, which is why we encourage all eligible customers to consider enrolling today.”

Both homeowners and renters are eligible for this program. There are no upfront costs or enrollment fees and no equipment needs to be installed or maintained. Customers can cancel anytime after their first month’s subscription and can remain subscribed if they move within an area serviced by Duke Energy Florida.

Duke Energy Florida supplies electricity to two million residential, commercial and industrial customers across a 13,000-square-mile service area in Florida with an energy capacity of 12,300 megawatts.

Duke Energy is one of America’s largest energy holding companies with electric utilities serving 8.4 million customers in six states and owning 54,800 megawatts of energy capacity. The company is investing in upgrades to its electric grid and expanding cleaner generation sources such as renewables and energy storage.
