Duke Energy Florida hosted its Neighborhood Energy Saver Program in Clearwater on April 9, inviting eligible local customers to learn about ways to reduce their energy bills. The event took place at the Ross Norton Recreation Center and was attended by approximately 75 people, although more than 2,200 customers are eligible for the program.

The program aims to help residents lower their monthly electricity costs through free home energy assessments and a range of no-cost improvements. This initiative is particularly relevant as summer approaches and energy usage typically increases.

Melissa Seixas, president of Duke Energy Florida, said, “Our Neighborhood Energy Saver program is just one of the many resources we offer to help connect customers with ways to lower their energy bill. By bringing our team and the community together, we’re able to get more support in the hands of customers in need as we head into the summer.”

Eligible participants can receive up to 20 different energy-saving upgrades at no cost. These include insulation upgrades, sealing air-conditioning ducts, basic air-conditioning maintenance, smart thermostats, efficient lightbulbs, a year’s supply of air-conditioning filters, energy-saving showerheads, and water-saving aerators for kitchens and bathrooms. The program is open to both homeowners and renters living in areas identified using federal and state guidelines along with census data.

Since launching its efficiency programs in 1981—including this one—Duke Energy has helped Florida customers save nearly $1.25 billion on their power bills. For additional tips or information about eligibility for this or other programs aimed at reducing household energy use, Duke Energy encourages residents to visit its website or call its dedicated number.

As Duke Energy continues investing in grid upgrades and efficient generation resources across its service areas nationwide—including Florida—it remains focused on supporting customer needs while modernizing infrastructure.
