Duke Energy Florida, in partnership with the Duke Energy Foundation, employees, and customers, contributed nearly $650,000 through the Share the Light Fund in 2025 to help families pay their energy bills. The funds were distributed to community partners across the company’s 35-county service area.

A notable part of this support came from the Duke Energy Foundation, which provided $1,000 for every Tampa Bay Rays regular season win—amounting to $82,000—as well as additional funding to assist customers during periods of extreme summer heat.

Loree Elswick, president of Duke Energy Foundation, said: “We know that behind every request for assistance is a story – a family, a friend, a community member working to get through a tough time. Through Share the Light Fund and our local partners, we’re able to support our neighbors in their moment of need.”

All contributions received by the Share the Light Fund are given directly to social service agencies to help customers pay their energy bills.

Recently, Duke Energy Florida and United Way Suncoast held an outreach event in Clearwater where they met individually with more than 200 customers and collected contact information for follow-up with an additional 800 people.

Jessica Muroff, CEO of United Way Suncoast, stated: “The United Way Suncoast is grateful for the important work we’ve been able to do with Duke Energy Florida to support families across the Tampa Bay area. We look forward to building on this impactful partnership in 2026 and beyond.”
