Duke Energy has expanded its Home Energy Improvement rebate program for Florida customers, aiming to help them save on energy and reduce bills during the summer. The enhanced program allows eligible customers to earn up to $3,850 in rebates after completing a free online home energy check, a significant increase from last year’s potential savings of $1,700.

The program offers a free Home Energy Check that can be done online, by phone, or in person. Participants receive a report on their home’s energy usage and expert recommendations for improvements. Once the check is completed and recommended improvements are made, customers have 24 months to complete an eligible measure.

Rebate options for single-family homes include up to $1,000 back on HVAC replacements, up to $800 back on energy-efficient windows and attic insulation upgrades (instant rebate), up to $450 back on duct tests and repairs (instant rebate), and up to $800 back on heat pump water heaters (new rebate). For manufactured homes and multifamily properties, there are rebates of up to $600 back for HVAC replacements. Manufactured homes can also get up to $450 back with duct test and repair (new instant rebate), while multifamily properties can receive up to $350 back on upgrading attic insulation (new instant rebate).

Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president stated: “Our expanded home energy improvement rebate program is designed to help our customers make their homes more comfortable and energy efficient. Through our free energy assessments and expanded rebate programs, customers can make lasting impacts that will save energy, add value to their home and lower their bill.”

The Home Energy Check program is available to all residential customers who have not had a Home Energy Check within the past two years. This includes renters or those living in apartments. It aims to empower participants with advice on saving energy while maximizing sustainability and comfort.
