With temperatures in the Carolinas expected to reach potentially triple digits this week, Duke Energy is advising customers on how to manage their energy use effectively. Sasha Weintraub, Duke Energy’s senior vice president and chief customer officer, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing tools and programs that help customers save energy and money. “We provide personalized usage alerts that provide insight into how customers use energy and offer a variety of customer programs, incentives, tools and tips to help customers save energy and money, especially when temperatures spike,” Weintraub stated.

To assist in reducing energy consumption, Duke Energy suggests setting thermostats to the highest comfortable setting. Even minor adjustments can lead to savings. The company also recommends using cooler water for laundry, running heat-producing appliances during cooler hours, closing curtains on sunny sides of homes, and operating ceiling fans counterclockwise during summer.

Duke Energy offers various savings programs such as free home energy assessments which include an efficiency kit and expert recommendations. Rebates are available for equipment upgrades through the Smart $aver program. Customers can also receive bill credits by shifting energy use during low-demand periods through specific programs.

For those needing financial assistance with bills, Duke Energy provides installment payment plans and collaborates with local agencies to connect qualified customers with resources like the Share the Light Fund.

Duke Energy serves millions of electric and natural gas customers across several states including North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The company is focused on transitioning towards cleaner energy while maintaining reliability and value for its customers.
