The Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve of North Carolina will convene its Spring local advisory committee meetings on April 22 and 23. The sessions, open to the public, will be held in-person only.

The meeting for the Rachel Carson Reserve is scheduled for April 22 at 3 p.m. at the NOAA Beaufort Laboratory Administration Building located at 101 Pivers Island Road, Beaufort, NC. The meeting concerning the Kitty Hawk Woods Reserve will take place on April 23 at 1 p.m. at the Kitty Hawk Town Hall, 101 Veterans Memorial Drive, Kitty Hawk, NC.

These committees include residents as well as representatives from community organizations and governmental and non-governmental agencies. The North Carolina Division of Coastal Management aims to protect and manage the state’s coastal resources across 20 coastal counties. The Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve Program, since its inception in 1989, has conserved over 44,000 acres of coastal lands at ten distinct sites for education, research, and traditional uses.
