Raleigh has been chosen as the newest hub for BuildOps, a tech platform specializing in software for commercial trade contractors. The announcement was made by Raleigh Economic Development, highlighting that this will be BuildOps’ third North American operations hub alongside Los Angeles and Toronto. The economic impact of this project on Raleigh is projected to exceed $87.6 million.
The decision came after a competitive selection process where Raleigh was preferred over Austin, Texas. The project is expected to create nearly 300 jobs over four years, with roles spanning product and account management, customer service, sales, engineering, finance, operations, and human resources. Salaries for these positions will range from $75,000 to $220,000 annually.
BuildOps offers an all-in-one cloud-based service designed specifically for the construction and field service industries. It aims to streamline operations for commercial trade contractors by managing scheduling, dispatching, invoicing, billing, customer relationship management, inventory control, and financial reporting.
Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowell expressed enthusiasm about the development: “It’s an exciting time to be in Raleigh… BuildOps joins Raleigh during a period of impressive growth.”
Despite previous success with remote workforces in locations like Austin, BuildOps identified the need for physical office space to enhance collaboration and team support. Alok Chanani, Co-Founder and CEO of BuildOps said: “We were attracted to Raleigh for the same reasons that other innovators in the data technology sector have chosen the area…”
The State of North Carolina supported this office project through a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG). Additionally, Raleigh Economic Development proposed using the State Matching Grant provision from the City’s Business Investment Grant to further back this initiative.
