Apple Watch users are gearing up for the upcoming Global Close Your Rings Day on April 24. Apple is encouraging users to close their Activity rings to earn a special limited-edition award and animated stickers for Messages.

“Apple Watch has changed the way people think about, monitor, and engage with their fitness and health. A decade ago, we introduced Activity rings — and since then, Apple Watch has grown to offer an extensive set of features designed to empower every user,” Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, stated.

The initiative aims to motivate users to stay active by completing daily goals related to movement, exercise, and standing. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences on social media using the hashtag #CloseYourRings. For those who close all three rings, Apple promises an animated badge along with the awards.

To commemorate the event, Apple is offering a special pin available at Apple Store locations worldwide, subject to availability.

Recent insights from the Apple Heart and Movement Study, conducted with Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the American Heart Association, reveal a correlation between the closure of Activity rings and improved health metrics like sleep, heart health, and stress reduction. The study observed that individuals who frequently closed their rings experienced better sleep quality and lower stress levels.

The Activity app, a core feature of Apple Watch, promotes daily activity goals, which users can customize. These goals encompass active calories burned, minutes devoted to brisk activity, and standing periods.

Apple is focused on providing privacy and security for its users, ensuring that health data remains secure and encrypted. The Apple Watch’s fitness and health features incorporate precise metrics developed through extensive studies.

Despite the broad availability of its features, Apple emphasizes user privacy by encrypting health data when synced to iCloud and providing robust security through its devices.
