Apple has unveiled updates to Logic Pro for Mac and iPad, enhancing beat-making and music production capabilities. The updates include the Stem Splitter feature, which now offers improved audio fidelity and can separate guitar and piano into stems. Flashback Capture allows users to retrieve performances they may have forgotten to record.
The updated Stem Splitter extracts more detail from recordings and supports guitar and piano stems. Producers can select common stem variations using presets, such as acapella or instrumental with vocals. A new submix feature enables users to export specific audio parts, like removing vocals for an instrumental track.
Flashback Capture helps artists recover performances even if they forgot to hit record. Users can restore MIDI and audio performances using a key command or custom control bar button. Cycle mode lets musicians improvise multiple takes, automatically organizing each pass into a take folder.
Logic Pro introduces new sound packs like Dancefloor Rush, featuring over 400 loops, drum kits, and a custom Live Loops grid. Two additional sound packs are available for Mac: Magnetic Imperfections captures the essence of analog tape, while Tosin Abasi showcases progressive metal guitar with unique effects.
Learn MIDI is now on iPad, allowing users to assign knobs, faders, and buttons on MIDI devices within Logic Pro. It provides real-time visual feedback for creating custom assignments.
Additional features for Mac include Notepad with integrated Writing Tools powered by Apple Intelligence for more expressive writing or collaboration on song lyrics. A search and select feature helps manage large projects by finding tracks by name or number.
Logic Pro for Mac 11.2 is available as a free update for existing users or $199.99 for new users on the Mac App Store. It requires macOS Sequoia 15.4 or later. Logic Pro for iPad 2.2 is also available as a free update or $4.99 per month/$49 per year on the App Store with a one-month free trial for new users; it requires iPadOS 18.4 or later.
