Red Hat, a leading provider of open source solutions, announced the winners of the Red Hat APAC Innovation Awards 2024 for China in Beijing. The company honored Amway (China) Co., Ltd. and Siemens Industrial Automation Products, Chengdu (SEWC) for their innovative use of Red Hat solutions in transforming their business operations.
These awards celebrate efforts in the Asia Pacific region, which is experiencing rapid growth driven by diverse economies and vast consumer bases. The theme for this year’s awards was “Unlock what’s next,” recognizing enterprises that have leveraged open source technologies to overcome challenges and foster innovation.
The awards highlighted achievements in five categories: Digital Transformation, Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud-Native Development, Automation, and Resilience. Both awarded companies demonstrated significant advancements using Red Hat solutions to optimize their operations.
Amway (China) Co., Ltd. won in the Digital Transformation and Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure category. The company used a hybrid cloud platform built on Red Hat OpenShift to enhance its supply chain and develop a new digital twin application for production. This platform provides end-to-end process visibility and has improved production efficiency, operational cost management, and product information transparency.
Siemens Industrial Automation Products, Chengdu (SEWC) was recognized in the Digital Transformation category. SEWC upgraded its manufacturing execution system using Red Hat OpenShift to develop MEMO, an integrated production support system. This system enhanced production line efficiency and provided a reference for software in industrial automation.
Marjet Andriesse, senior vice president and general manager at Red Hat, praised the winners for their “remarkable milestones” despite uncertain economic conditions. Keen Kong, Infrastructure Director at Amway, highlighted the foundation laid by their work with Red Hat for digital transformation. Yang Jian, IT Department Manager at SEWC, emphasized the benefits of transitioning to a microservices architecture with the help of Red Hat.
