Agricultural trust fund advisory committee sets September meeting in Raleigh

The Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, September 2 at 2 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Hall of Fame Room at the Agriculture Building, located at 2 W. Edenton St., Raleigh. Members of the public can also participate by phone using conference number 984-204-1487 and conference ID 711 309 602.

During the session, committee members plan to review the trust fund’s budget and open contracts. The agenda includes reports on ongoing conservation easement projects, updates from county programs, information about grant monitoring and stewardship activities, as well as a status report on recent and upcoming easement closings.

The committee will also receive updates regarding the program calendar, rules changes, local partnerships, and collaborations with federal agencies such as the military and USDA. An update on Cycle 19 grant applications is also expected.

According to background information provided by organizers, “The Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund supports the farming, forestry and horticulture communities within the agriculture industry, purchasing agricultural conservation easements, funding public and private enterprise programs to promote profitable and sustainable family farms, and providing funding for conservation easements targeted at the active production of food, fiber and other agricultural products.”
