The 2026 Toyota Mirai will soon be available at dealerships, featuring advancements in hydrogen fuel cell technology and new design elements. The vehicle is powered by Toyota’s fuel cell electric stack, producing 182 horsepower and offering an EPA-estimated driving range of 402 miles. This model introduces standard 19-inch black machine-finished aluminum alloy wheels and has a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $51,795, excluding dealer processing and handling fees.

As a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), the Mirai generates electricity onboard from hydrogen, emitting only water as a byproduct. Unlike battery-electric vehicles that require recharging, the Mirai can be refueled with compressed hydrogen gas in minutes. The electricity produced is stored in a lithium-ion battery and powers a rear-mounted AC synchronous motor.

The Mirai is built on Toyota’s GA-L platform, which supports its rear-wheel-drive layout and accommodates two hydrogen tanks under the rear seats. The platform uses high-strength materials and construction techniques such as laser screw welding to enhance handling agility and ride comfort. Standard features include Active Cornering Assist and Hill Start Assist Control.

Design updates for 2026 include a low, wide stance with bold exterior styling elements like auto-leveling bi-beam LED headlights, multi-LED turn signals, heated dual-tone mirrors with integrated turn signals, blind spot warning, puddle lights, and distinctive LED taillights. Inside, the cabin features SofTex-trimmed heated front seats with power adjustments, footwell illumination, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Technological enhancements are present throughout the vehicle. A 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen display provides access to navigation, climate controls, audio settings—including JBL Premium Audio—and images from the Panoramic View Monitor. A separate 12.3-inch gauge cluster displays driving information such as ECO drive indicators and remaining range. Connectivity options include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth dual phone support, multiple USB ports, Qi-compatible wireless charging tray, Wi-Fi Connect trial subscription for up to five devices, HD Radio, SiriusXM trial subscription, and integrated streaming capabilities for Apple Music or Amazon Music accounts.

Mirai owners benefit from several connected services: Safety Connect offers emergency assistance and roadside support; Service Connect provides maintenance alerts; Remote Connect allows remote interaction via the Toyota app with digital key capability; all dependent on network availability.

Additional ownership benefits include extended ToyotaCare coverage for three years or 35,000 miles (whichever comes first), complimentary hydrogen fuel valued at $15,000 or up to six years for purchases (three years for leases), an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on FCEV components, a ten-year/150,000-mile hybrid battery warranty on key components, and complimentary rental service for up to 21 days during the first three years of ownership or lease.

Safety features are comprehensive with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0), including Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (“Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD) is designed to help detect a vehicle… If you don’t react, the system is designed to provide automatic emergency braking.”), Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (“Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is an adaptive cruise control system… DRCC uses vehicle-to-vehicle distance control to help maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead of you.”), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (“Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA) detects lane markings or the road’s edge at speeds above 30 mph…”), Lane Tracing Assist (“Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) is designed to help keep the vehicle in the center of a lane…”), Road Sign Assist (“Road Sign Assist (RSA) uses the forward-facing camera to recognize specific road signs… RSA provides sign information to the driver via the Multi-Information Display.”), Automatic High Beams (“Automatic High Beams (AHB) is designed to detect headlights of oncoming vehicles…”), Proactive Driving Assist (“Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) uses the vehicle’s camera and radar… PDA can also provide gentle braking into curves.”).

Other standard safety features include Traffic Jam Assist (with active Drive Connect trial or subscription), Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking.

Toyota employs nearly 48,000 people in the United States across its manufacturing plants and dealerships. In 2025,Toyota’s North Carolina plant began assembling automotive batteries for electrified vehicles as part of its commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
